Fowler/ Hensel Wedding

I have always thought of weddings are the best days of people's lives. I am sure many other girls out there are like me, who have always dreamed of how their wedding would be when they're a little girl. My goal was to become a wedding planner so I can make other's dream come true and give them the best day of their lives.

Planning the wedding have not always been easy. There are always last minute things that could go wrong. When I was planning my advisor's daughter's wedding, I thought I had everything planned but I was horribly mistaken. Thankfully, I have learned from my mistake and hopefully be more thoughtful in the future.

I have been invited to plan this wedding when there is only 2 months left till the very date. I have designed the staircase and how I could utilise the things my advisor bought and make them part of the wedding. I also wrote in calligraphy and made the place cards with help from my boyfriend Wesley.

I was very glad that I kept to the minimum budget and negotiated my way through that last few weeks. I have ordered 200 roses from Coleman Florist for $1/piece, 10 stems of dendrobium orchids for $2.75/stem and bought peruvian lilies from Wegmans and online. I have found 80 yards of organza material from an online ebay store for $80 (or we would have bought the same length of a similar material from Jo-Ann Fabric Store for $400).

Here are some clitches that we went through:

  • We had an original idea of the centrepiece of having water in the hurricane lamps with floating candles and orchids but it leaked so we had to change to using pillar candles instead.

  • There wasn't enough ribbon to carry out the original design that I had for the place cards so we had to cut the others short and tape the ends on the inside.

  • We went to the wrong church (oops!)

  • We almost ran out of time (we finished 20 minutes before the cocktail hour starts at 6pm)

  • HOWEVER! The wedding was picture perfect.
